FAW-VW, the joint venture of First Auto Works and Volkswagen, held a grand ceremony in Shanghai today for the official release of the CC, or Comfort Coupe.
The most important new model from FAW-VW this year, the CC is basically an enlarged, luxurious coupe version of the six generation Passat, which is built and marketed in China by FAW-VW under the name Magotan.
Five trims–three of 2.0TSI and two of 1.8TSI–were unveiled, although currently only the 2.0TSI ones are available in the showrooms. All trims come with a 6-speed Direct-shift Gearbox (DSG).
With prices ranging between 250,000 and 300,000 yuan, the CC is the currently most expensive Volkswagen brand car built in China. Its main rivals are 2.5L Mazda 6 Sports, Buick Regal, Honda Spirior, and Toyota Reiz.
