Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia (DYK), Kia’s China venture in partnership with Dongfeng Motor and Jiangsu Yueda Group, will release the third generation Kia Sportage compact SUV, called "SL" in China, this October. The existing, second generation, however, will not be replaced; it will continue to be made and marketed under the name "Sportage."
SL has the same wheelbase of 2640mm as its twin Hyundai ix35. 4400mm long, 1850mm wide, and 1630mm high, it has a longer, wider, and lower body than the second generation. The new look it gets emphasizes Kia family characteristics seen in Soul and the new Sorento and Forte.
The same 2.0L and 2.4L Θ-Ⅱ engines from Hyundai ix35 will power SL, matched by a 5-speed manual or 6-speed auto transmission.
Prices are expected to range between 170,000 and 250,00 yuan–compared to 160,000-240,000 yuan for the current Sportage. Main rivals will be Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4
