Foton Motor released the 2011 models of the MP-X MPV on 29 March, adding three engine options: one petrol 2.0L (4Gi) and two diesel 2.8L (493ZQ3 and E2.8). Styling changes are minimal.
The 4Gi-VVT, also identified as M004EV20, is built with licensed technology from Mercedes-Benz, a partner of BAIC (parent company of Foton), and closely related to the M112EV32 found on the Viano MPV. Rated 95kW at 5500rpm and 186Nm at 2200-3500rpm, it is cleaner and more powerful than the old 2.0L option, the 4G63S4M.
The 493ZQ3 diesel 2.8-liter comes from Jiangling Motor. With 4 cylinders and 8 valves, it is a low-cost and low-performance choice, putting out no more than 70kW of power and 225Nm of torque, and falling short of the China IV emission standard.

E2.8, the turbo-charged diesel 2.8-liter, is produced by the joint venture of Foton and Cummins. It can develop a maximum of 96kW of power and 280Nm of torque.

As some models from the last two years are retained, the MP-X is currently available in more than a dozen versions and comes with 6 engine options–two petrol 2.0L, one petrol 2.4L, one diesel 2.4L, and two diesel 2.8L. All feature rear-wheel drive and 5-speed manual transmission. Prices range between 97,800 Yuan and 166,000 Yuan.
