Figures from China Customs and China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that as the total volume and value of Chinese auto exports grew steadily in the two and half years, the average price per exported vehicle went in the opposite direction. A typical Chinese vehicle sold for $14,000 in overseas markets in 2009, $12,300 in 2010, and $12,200 in the first half of this year.

In terms of volume, vehicle exports in H1 2011 increased 50.22% on year to 376,100 units, including 203,000 passenger cars (sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and microvans), up 74.3%, and 173,100 commercial vehicles (buses and trucks), up 29.27%. Total passenger car exports in H1 were valued at $1.389 billion, as the average unit fetched only $6,842.

Chery Auto retained the title of China’s biggest auto exporter, shipping 72,000 vehicles to foreign markets. It was followed by Great Wall Motor and JAC, exporting 34,000 and 25,000 units, respectively.
