Automakers in China sold a total of 103,912 medium and large buses in the first six months of this year, 3.31% more than the same period a year ago, according to China Bus Statistical Info. Site (Zhongguo Keche Tongji Xinxi Wang). The growth rate represents a sharp fall from the year-on-year sales increase of over 30% in H1 2010.
While the domestic market stagnated, demand from abroad jumped. Exports of medium and large buses in H1 2011 increased 32.7% on year to 12,430 units. 63.47% of the exports, or 7,889 units, came from two auto companies: Yutong Bus and Xiamen King Long Motor Group (the latter has three divisions: Xiamen King Long, Suzhou Higer Bus, Xiamen Golden Dragon Van). H1 bus exports were valued at 3,859,975,700 Yuan, up 50.59%.
3,384 public buses were sold to overseas buyers in the first six months, 43.63% more than a year ago. They were worth 1,439,824,300 Yuan in total, as an average unit fetched 425,500 Yuan, compared with the average price of 350,400 Yuan in H1 2010.
