According to Zhongxing Auto (ZXAUTO), its all-new crossover, "Dushi Fangzhou" (which literally means "Urban Ark") was inspired by Toyota’s "urban cruiser," although many see it an imitator of Kia Soul. Combining features of a SUV and hatchback, Dushi Fangzhou represents the SUV- and pickup-maker’s first attempt at the mainstream passenger car market.
Sitting on a 2500mm wheelbase, the crossover is 4142mm long, 1761mm wide, and 1640mm high. It has a ground clearance of 180mm. The powertrain features a Mitsubishi 1.5 liter (77kw/6000rpm and 141Nm/4500rpm) and a 5-speed manual gearbox. On market launch scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2012, only 2WD models will be available, selling for 70,000 – 90,000 Yuan. 4WD ones are said to come later.
Dushi Fangzhou will be produced in Zhongxing’s new factory in Yichang, Hubei. The automaker targets to sell 25,000 units of it in the first year.
