August Passenger Vehicle Sales Rose 11.3% to 1.2 Million
September 7th, 2012 | Posted in SalesAccording to the report released Friday afternoon by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), automakers in China delivered 1,213,992 passenger cars last month, 11.3% more than a year earlier and 8.6% more than July 2012. Demand for SUVs continued to soar, while the MPV market shrank slightly.
A total of 861,182 sedans/hatchbacks were sold in August, up 11.4% on year; 42,573 MPVs, down 1.7%; 165,025 SUVs, up 22.4%; 145,221 micro vans, up 3.7%.
The counts refer to wholesales and include exports. The automakers reported 1,158,921 sales of passenger cars in the domestic market, up 11.2% on year (not including sales of imported models).
