On Thursday, Soueast announced the pricing for its latest model derived from the Mitsubishi Lancer. Available in seven 1.5L versions, the V5, or "Lingzhi" in Chinese, sells for 69,800 – 93,800 Yuan (US$11,077 – 14,886).
The V5 is essentially a V3 ("Lingyue") made bigger and equipped with more convenience and safety features, while both share platform with the "Lancer" built by Soueast in partnership with Mitsubishi (Soueast-Mitsubishi makes Lancer of three generations in Fuzhou, Fujian: "Lancer," "Galant," and "Lancer EX"). The 2500mm wheelbase on V3 and "Lancer" has been extended to 2610mm, allowing a body length of 4570mm. As a Lancer variant, the V5 gets independent suspension at front (MacPherson) and in the rear (multi-link).
Both the V3 and V5 are powered by a 1.5 liter, the MIVEC 4A91 built by "Aerospace Mitsubishi" in Shenyang and rated 88kW/5000-6000rpm and 143Nm/3500-4000rpm. A turbo 15 liter may appear on future V5 models to pair with a 6-speed VT2 CVT. For transmission, consumers can choose between a 5MT and CVT.
Standard features include VCUS (Voice Cue System), INS (Incident Notification System), ABS/EBD, BAS, remote key, and "follow-me-home headlights." On higher trim levels, one will find cruise control, keyless start, TPMS, rearview camera, and SEMI–"Soueast Multimedia Interface."
