The general manager of Shanghai-GM, Ye Yongming, revealed at the 2012 Guangzhou Auto Show that the company had set the goal of producing and selling 1.45 million vehicles next year. Sales of this year are expected to exceed 1.38 million.
In the first ten months of 2012, the joint venture between SAIC and General Motors was the largest passenger car maker in China, with 1.14 deliveries. If we count micro-vans as passenger cars, then another GM venture, SGMW took the lead, selling over 1.2 million units (its 2012 sales are set to exceed 1.4 million). The two Volkswagen ventures followed closely, with FAW-VW delivering 1,080,300 units, Shanghai-VW 1,080,768.
