Preparing to enter the MPV market, Sichuan (Yema) Auto Industry Co., Ltd., a makers of SUVs and buses, displayed a concept van, the A-MPV, at last year’s Chengdu Auto Show. Recently, it exposed on its official website the production version called S-MPV.
Like the Yema SUVs, the S-MPV copies the design of a well-known foreign model. This time, what is imitated is Mazda5. Both the Yema van and the third-gen Mazda5 sit on a 2750mm wheelbase, and are 4585mm long and 1750mm wide. The derived is slightly taller, at 1700mm.

Yema seems to care little for hiding its intention to copy. Many details in the official depiction of the S-MPV’s interior came directly from the Mazda original.

Four gasoline engine options will be provided, a 1.5L and 1.6L from Sichuan Auto’s powertrain plant in Mianyang, and two Mitsubishi 1.6L. More details of them can be found in the table below.
According to a previous report, Yema plans to release the S-MPV in September this year with a price tag of about 60,000 Yuan.
