- 2003: BAIC and Daimler-Chrysler signed framework agreement in Beijing on strategic cooperation on September 8.
- 2004: Agreements signed by BAIC and Daimler-Chrysler (in Berlin on May 3; in Bremen on November 26) on making Mercedes-Benz cars in Beijing. Foundation stone was laid for Beijing Benz Daimler-Chrysler’s vehicle plant in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area on December 6; German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder attended the ceremony.
