  • 2003: BAIC and Daimler-Chrysler signed framework agreement in Beijing on strategic cooperation on September 8.
  • 2004: Agreements signed by BAIC and Daimler-Chrysler (in Berlin on May 3; in Bremen on November 26) on making Mercedes-Benz cars in Beijing. Foundation stone was laid for Beijing Benz Daimler-Chrysler’s vehicle plant in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area on December 6; German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder attended the ceremony.
  • 2005: The 50:50 joint venture of Beijing Benz Daimler-Chrysler (BBDC) was established on August 8. Mercedes-Benz E-Class rolled off the line and went on sale in December.
