The Yuan, named after the Mongolian Dynasty Yuan, is a PHEV produced by BYD Auto. It is the “dual mode” (EV and HEV modes) version of the BYD S1, a mini SUV yet to launch. With a 2520mm wheelbase, the Yuan is 4320mm long, 1765mm wide, and 1650mm tall. It features two electric motors, on the front and rear axle respectively. They work with a petrol 1.5 liter, which is mated to a DCT. In all-electric mode, the hybrid SUV is said to have a driving range of 70km. A badge “4.9S” is displayed on its rear door, indicating the car’s 0-100km/h time.

The Yuan was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show in April 2015, and will go on sale in the last quarter of that year. Slotted below the Song, it will have a list price of about 200,000 Yuan (before incentives).
