The X7 is a mid-size, 7-seater SUV produced by SWM Motors and to be released on August 30, 2016. SWM, originally an Italian motorcycle brand, was bought by Xinyuan Holding in 2014; in 2016, SWM Motors was launched as a passenger car venture by Brilliance Xinyuan, the company owned jointly by Brilliance Auto and Xinyuan Holding. SWM Motors is headquartered in Chongqing, where it has a production capacity of 300,000 whole vehicles a year; in Milan, Italy, it has a R&D center.

As Brilliance, which partly owns SWM, is a partner of BMW, it comes as no surprise that the X7, the first car to bear the SWM brand, drew inspirations from the BMW X5.

With a 2750mm wheelbase, the X7 is 4710mm long, 1855mm wide, and 1750mm tall. Upon release it will be powered by a petrol 1.8 liter; a second engine option, a 1.5T, will be offered at a later stage. Only FWD models will be provided. Prices are expected to range between 90,000 and 110,000 Yuan.
